Qianyi Zhu is an abstract artist working primarily with painting, etching, pastel, and mixed works on paper. She is currently based in Glasgow and soon to graduate from the Glasgow School of Art. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Design from Macao Polytechnic University, where she was awarded the Scholarship for Exceptional New Students (Top 1%).

 

Her practice is grounded in a quiet exploration of inner landscapes, where remembered fragments of nature—trees, grasses, rivers, lakes, fields and urban edges—are revisited not as static images but as shifting emotional states. Her recent work examines the recurring pull of certain places and sensations, tracing how memory is never fixed but continuously reinterpreted through time. She engages with repetition not only as a visual motif, but as a way of navigating the distance between feeling and form.

 

Qianyi has gained wide experience in gallery operations, design, and cultural events. She worked as a Gallery Operation Assistant at Horschamps Art Space (2022), where she managed online platforms, event planning, and exhibition support. She also interned at Untitled Macao (2021) as a design intern, producing advertising, packaging, and promotional layouts. Qianyi has taught art at Xicheng Primary School in Beijing, where she designed and delivered art classes for young students. She has also trained high school art students for China’s joint entrance examinations and individual university entrance exams, helping them achieve outstanding results, including admission offers from the country’s top art institutions, as well as 211 and 985 comprehensive universities.
